New Magnetic Anomaly Constraints on the Antarctic Crust

The Antarctic Digital Magnetic Anomaly Project’s first-generation magnetic anomaly map (ADMAP-1) was produced for the region south of 60°S from about 1.5 million line-kms airborne and marine data (Golynsky et al., 2001; https://www.bas.ac.uk/data/our-data/maps/thematic-maps/admap-magnetic-anomaly-map-of-the-antarctic/). second-generation ADMAP-2 compilation 2017; https://doi.org/10.22663/ADMAP.V2) incorporated an additional roughly 2.0 international mapping through 2015. present study integrates satellite observations Swarm mission with near-surface to help fill regional coverage gaps better define altitude behavior Antarctic's anomalies enhanced geological analysis. resulting data-supplemented compilation, ADMAP-2s, yields further constraints on enigmatic geology Gamburtsev Subglacial Mountains, Prince Charles Wilkes Land, Dronning Maud other poorly explored areas. It offers insights global tectonic processes crustal properties helps unify disparate geologic geophysical studies by linking widely separated outcrops. also supports controls ice sheet, transitions between Antarctica adjacent oceans, geodynamic evolution Gondwana Rodinia supercontinents.
